We thank Lord for giving us good weather on our school picnic day so we could enjoy the beauty of nature. The students were divided into two groups and visited Pak Tam Chung Country Park and Lions Nature Education Centre respectively. I observed that our students behaved well and had a great time that day.
Students, you may not realize that we have developed a better understanding of six of the twenty-four character strengths proposed by the father of Positive Psychology, Martini Seligman. These are sincerity, courage, love and being loved, self-control, appreciation of beauty and curiosity. Have you found your own character strengths? In November, I shared the following message with you, “A few words of gratitude can bring people closer together and warm each other’s hearts and this is the power of love.” Let me share with you one of my favourite hymns – The Meaning of Love. Its lyrics mention that the greatest thing in the world is love and it never changes. Love is patient and forgives everything. It is not self-seeking and does not delight in evil. Love always protects, always trusts and always hopes. It never fails. We love each other because God first loved us. As long as we always trust, always hope and let Jesus Christ to live in our hearts, we can recieve the grace of God.
Kei Tsz Primary School is loving and caring school and we believe that if children grow up in a safe and loving learning enviornment, they will feel being valued and loved. When children’s basic needs are fulfilled, they learn motivation can be enhanced. The first term tests have just finished and you have probably received your children’s results. Let’s encourage our children and increase their learning motivation with appreciation. It should be noted that appreciation should not focus on the scores, but their learning process and attitudes. Besides, we can give children some specific and clear advice so that they have a clearer direction to imrpove.
As December is coming, you may find that there are a variety of Christmas decorations hanging up in our school. Christmas is a festival celebrating love and gratitude. While we are celebrating the joyful festival, we need to understand the meaning of Christmas. Christmas commemorates the birth of Jesus Christ, as it is written, “For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only son (Jesus Christ), that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life” (John 3:16). Jesus Christ was crucified for our sins on the cross and took our sins so that we could be saved from them. Through this, we can enjoy God's love and grace. We would like to follow Jesus as we witness His love for us. I hope that we can learn from Jesus Christ and learn how to care for others. In the morning on 20th December, the school will hold a Christmas worship so that students will receive the joyful message that the Lord has come. Finally, I would like to bless all of you with a bible scripture: “Now the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, that ye may abound in hope, through the power of the Holy Ghost.” (Romans 15:13).
We hope that our children can grow joyfully in God’s love and truth.
